Uffizi Gallery

One of the most important art museums in the world, with the largest collection of Italian painting. Botticelli (Birth of Venus, Primavera), Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo.

Accademia Gallery and David

Michelangelo's David (1501-04, 5.17 m tall) is the absolute masterpiece of Renaissance art. The museum also displays Michelangelo's unfinished Prisoners.

Duomo, Bell Tower and Brunelleschi's Dome

The Duomo complex includes the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's Bell Tower and the famous Brunelleschi dome (1436), an engineering masterpiece of the Renaissance.

💡 guides.tipLabel The climb to the dome (463 steps) requires booking and offers spectacular views. The Opera del Duomo museum (opposite) houses the original Baptistery doors.

Ponte Vecchio

The only surviving medieval bridge in Florence (1345) and the symbol of the city. Traditionally home to goldsmiths and jewellers, it has hosted workshops since the 16th century.

💡 guides.tipLabel Visit at dawn to admire it without tourists. The Vasari Corridor (above the workshops) can only be visited with booked guided tours.

Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato

Florence's most famous viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama over the city and the Arno. San Miniato al Monte is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Italy.

💡 guides.tipLabel Reach it on foot from the lower city (20 min) or by bus 13. Spectacular at sunset. The basilica of San Miniato is free and open in the evening too for the monks vespers.
